Narrative:

On March 18, 2025 The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit arrested Hector Magana after an investigation revealed that he contacted a minor online with the intent to commit sexual acts.

During the months of December 2024 and January 2025, investigators learned that Magana contacted the 12 year old victim through various social media platforms where he began grooming the victim using a fake name of “Damian”.  Magana arranged to meet with the victim in person on 3 different occasions in the City of Camarillo where he sexually assaulted her.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has formally charged Magana with 7 Felony counts of PC288(a) – Lewd Act Upon a Child.

The investigation is ongoing and Detectives believe there could be more victims.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit is committed to the safety of our community’s youth.  The overwhelming access afforded to young people online can be overwhelming and is opportunistic to sexual predators.  Information about online safety is available from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at www.missingkids.org .  Age-appropriate education presentations are available as well as multiple other educational topics related to the safety of our youth.  Talk to your kids about safety on-line.
