SUMMARY: On March 24, 2025, at approximately 9:38 p.m., multiple residents in the 14800 block of Merrill Avenue, reported shots being fired involving two male adults arguing in the street. Deputy Saragih from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to the call for service with assistance from other deputies. As Saragih arrived to the location, he was flagged down by a resident who witnessed the shooting through home video surveillance.
Saragih reviewed the video surveillance and observed two vehicles involved in the shooting. One was described as a white compact box type and the second was described as a lowered sedan. Both vehicles were last seen fleeing the location of the shooting, chasing each other through the streets of Fontana. Saragih broadcasted the description of the two vehicles and subjects involved in the shooting and provided the information to surrounding agencies.
As Saragih processed the crime scene, two California Highway Patrol (CHP) Units in Fontana observed two matching vehicles run a red light. The two vehicles were involved in some type of road rage incident and CHP followed the vehicles. Saragih caught up to the CHP Units and conducted a high risk traffic stop on both vehicles near the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Village Drive, in the Southridge area of Fontana.
Saragih spoke to the occupants of both vehicles, identified as Randy Castillo, Christina Brown and the adult male victim, regarding the initial incident that occurred on Merrill Avenue. Saragih learned Castillo and the victim had a dispute over money owed that evolved into a fight where Castillo produced a gun and fired several shots at the victim at a close range, attempting to kill him. Saragih searched the area where both vehicles were stopped and located the suspected firearm that Castillo used in the shooting. Castillo was arrested for attempted murder with the use of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Brown was arrested for being an accessory to a crime after the shooting occurred and helped Castillo flee in her vehicle.
There were no other reports of additional gunshot victims related to this incident. Investigators are releasing a photo of both vehicles that possibly led to additional victims of road rage in the city of Fontana.
