SVPD officers located a reported stolen vehicle (10851 CVC) following a Flock system alert in the area of Tapo Canyon Road and Alamo Street. The vehicle, a work van, appeared to be occupied by a solo male driver.

Officers initiated a pursuit eastbound on the 118 Freeway, continuing southbound on the 405 Freeway into the city of Santa Monica.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was involved in two separate traffic collisions within Santa Monica city limits. The second collision rendered the vehicle inoperable, prompting the suspect to flee on foot. SVPD officers pursued and successfully apprehended the suspect on the Santa Monica Pier without incident.

No use of force was reported, and no injuries were reported at the time of this Nixle. The registered owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted and responded to take possession of his van.

The suspect, Alex Villegas (21-years old) is a Santa Monica resident. He was later booked for 10851 CVC – possession of a stolen vehicle, two counts of 20002 CVC – Hit-and-Run, and 2800.2 CVC – Felony Evading.
