Hey Ketchikan Drivers! đźš—đź’¨
With the ongoing construction on Tongass and the new Wolfe Point bypass, we all need to adjust how we respond when emergency vehicles are approaching with lights and sirens. A little awareness and patience will help keep everyone safe!
🚦 In the construction zone: Since there isn’t enough space to pull to the right, please keep driving until you’re safely out of the construction area or can pull into a parking lot to let the emergency vehicle pass. If you’re in the oncoming lane, keep moving forward unless a flagger signals for you to stop.
🚧 A quick reminder: Please don’t drive onto the sidewalk to get out of the way—just stay on the road and move forward safely.
🛑 On the bypass: If an emergency vehicle is behind you, continue driving until you’re off the bypass and can safely pull to the right. If you're in the oncoming lane, keep moving forward until you're clear of the zone.
Thank you, Ketchikan, for your patience, awareness, and for looking out for one another! You make our community a safer place. ❤️
