77 Drivers Cited During Pedestrian Safety Operation
Redwood City, California. – The Redwood City Police Department conducted a joint Pedestrian Safety Operation with the Atherton Police Department on 3/26/2025.
The recent Pedestrian Safety Operation conducted by the Redwood City Police Department Motor Unit, in collaboration with Atherton PD, was a proactive enforcement effort aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety in the community. These operations, funded by the OTS (Office of Traffic Safety) Grant, focus on reducing pedestrian-related accidents by ensuring that drivers obey traffic laws, particularly yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks.
Combined, both agencies issued a total of 77 citations for 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), and/or 21951(a) CVC (passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk), 1 arrest for driving on a suspended driver license, and 1 Felony warrant arrest.
The operation took place at the intersections of El Camino Real and Finger St in Redwood City, and on El Camino Real and Selby Ln, in Atherton, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
