Temple Station Announces the Upcoming Community Academy
The Temple Sheriff’s Station, in partnership with the City of Rosemead, is proud to announce the upcoming Community Academy, scheduled to begin on April 16, with an anticipated graduation date of May 28, 2025. This community-focused program offers the residents in Rosemead, Temple City, South El Monte, and surrounding areas served by Temple Sheriff’s Station an in-depth look at law enforcement operations while fostering stronger relationships between deputies and the community.
The Community Academy is designed to provide participants with firsthand knowledge of the various functions and responsibilities of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Attendees will engage in interactive sessions led by experienced law enforcement professionals, covering topics such as patrol operations, narcotics awareness and investigations, homeless outreach, patrol ride-along, jail tour, and community policing strategies.
“Our goal is to strengthen trust and transparency by giving residents a better understanding of the work we do to keep the community safe,” said Captain Jorge Meza of the Temple Sheriff’s Station. “This collaborative effort with the City of Rosemead highlights our ongoing commitment to promoting community engagement and public safety.”
The academy will run for 7 weeks, with weekly sessions on Wednesday nights from 7pm- 9pm at Rosemead Community Center ( 3936 Muscatel Avenue, Rosemead), which allow participants to engage with deputies, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the challenges and decision-making processes faced by law enforcement personnel.
Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to apply early. The City of Rosemead and the Temple Sheriff's Station will provide more information on the Community Academy, including registration details and session schedules.
Applications will not be accepted after April 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will screen and approve all applications. The program is being presented free of charge, and 30 participants will be accepted.
