Bear Valley Community Services District Board of Directors Expresses Support for Bear Valley Police Department, Approves Ad Hoc Committee for a Police Tax Study
 
3/28/2025- At the March 27, 2025, CSD Board Meeting, the Board of Directors made a declarative statement that they support the Bear Valley Police Department for the foreseeable future. Board members voted unanimously to issue the statement.

The Board of Directors also approved the formation of an Ad Hoc Committee for a Police Tax Study in a 4-1 vote. The Ad Hoc Committee will consist of two board members and up to five volunteer community members. It is charged with conducting a financial analysis on the current per-parcel tax to fund law enforcement in Bear Valley to determine the funding needed by the CSD, as well as evaluating the framework and requirements needed to place a tax measure on a future ballot. The Ad Hoc Committee will also make recommendations to the board on an oversight and accountability framework.

The Resolution calls for the Ad Hoc Committee to have all assigned tasks completed by the first CSD Board of Directors meeting in December 2025. All findings and recommendations made by the Committee will be presented to the full Board of Directors, which will then decide what actions will be taken.

In a separate matter, the Board of Directors also voted unanimously to schedule a closed session to discuss the appointment of a permanent Bear Valley Police Chief. The Board elected to defer any potential recruitment until after that meeting happens.
