Disaster Recovery Center on Spaulding Rd. Closes, New Disaster Resource Center Opens at 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC
The Disaster Recovery Center at 100 Spaulding Rd. has closed, and a new Disaster Resource Center has opened at Emergency Services Headquarters (129 Barnes Rd, Marion, NC). The center will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with FEMA specialists available to assist with applications for FEMA assistance and provide updates on application status. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) will also be available. Call 828-652-3241 if you have any questions.
Private Property Debris Removal Application Fair in Old Fort
For residents who need assistance applying for Private Property Debris Removal, a special in-person Application Fair will be held in Old Fort on Thursday, April 3 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. at the Old Fort Senior Center (909 E Main St, Old Fort, NC 28762). The Application Fair is in addition to the daily office hours at the McDowell County Emergency Services headquarters. Call 828-652-3241 (press 1) if you have any questions.
Apply for Free Disaster Debris Removal through the Private Property Debris Removal Program
McDowell County residents may be eligible to have qualified disaster debris removed from their property at no cost through the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) Program. Apply in person from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week at McDowell County Emergency Services at 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC 28752. If you cannot apply in person, we can come to you. NC Launches the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program
Governor Stein has announced the launch of the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program website. As part of Executive Order #2, this program is designed to assist property owners in Western North Carolina who have sustained damage to private roads or bridges. State officials are working to secure additional funding and expedite services. McDowell County residents with eligible damages are encouraged to submit their interest in participating by visiting www.ncdps.gov/helene/prb
FEMA Application Deadline Extended to April 7, 2025
The deadline to apply for assistance with FEMA has been extended to April 7, 2025. Survivors now have more time to apply, but FEMA strongly encourages submitting applications as soon as possible. After April 7, you may still submit documents, update your contact information, and stay in contact with FEMA regarding your application, but you must apply before the deadline. Individuals can apply at the Disaster Recovery Center at 100 Spaulding Rd. in Marion, NC.
