Borough Council Meeting, Tuesdays 4/1 and 4/15
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. 

Meet the Mayor and Council Members for coffee & conversation, Monday 4/7 – Wednesday 4/9
In honor of the New Jersey League of Municipalities statewide 'Local Government Week' activities in the first full week in April, Mayor Elsie Foster, Council President Stephany Kim Chohan, and members of the Borough Council invite residents to meet one-on-one with their elected officials.  Visit the Borough website for the dates/times.

Caring for Your Trees Webinar, Monday 4/7
Highland Park’s Shade Tree Advisory Committee has rescheduled its “Caring for Our Trees” webinar for Monday, April 7th, from 7:30-8:30 PM. During this session the Shade Tree Advisory Committee will answer your questions and offer tips for how you can help Highland Park’s young trees grow and thrive. We apologize for the technical difficulties experienced at the previously scheduled meeting. 
 
Protecting Your Housing Rights Presentation, Tuesday 4/8
The New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR) will offer a “Know Your Rights Presentation: Protecting Your Housing” on Tuesday, April 8th from 1:30-2:30 PM in the Highland Park Community Center. This presentation will provide an overview of the Division’s history, housing protections under the NJ Law Against Discrimination the Fair Chance in Housing Act, and how to file a complaint through NJ BIAS.  
 
Chometz Disposal, Friday 4/11
There will be a Chometz disposal drop-off service before Passover on Friday, April 11th, from 6:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works, 444 Valentine Street.  Please follow regular recycling rules and separate garbage and chometz from recycling.  For additional information, please call 732-247-9379
 
Highland Park 5K/Spring Street Fair & Earth Day Fest!, Sunday 5/4

Park Partners Grant Program, Deadline, Tuesday 5/13
If you’d like to make a difference in our town, submit your Park Partners grant application! The program awards funds of up to $2,000 each for five community-based projects in the following categories – Environment; Arts; Culture & Diversity; Safety, Universal Access, or Health & Wellness; and Highland Park High School student(s)/class/club projects.
 
Planting Days, Thursday 5/22 and Friday 5/23
Help fill the downtown planters with plants and flowers on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Meet at the Main Street Highland Park offices, 212 Raritan Avenue.  For more information, please visit mainstreethp.org

Memorial Day Parade, Monday 5/26
Everyone is invited to attend the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th at 11:00am.  Borough teams, groups and organizations are invited to join the parade! For more information, please contact the Highland Park Department of Community Services at 732-819-0052.
 
Gas Leaf Blower Survey, Deadline, 5/31
Members of the Board of Health, Sustainable Highland Park and the Environmental Commission have joined together to form the Borough's Gas Leaf Blower (GLB) Task Force. The group is exploring community and environmental concerns related to gas-powered leaf blowers and identifying ways to promotoe healthier, cleaner, and quieter landscaping options. The GLB Task Force held one public information session at the Library and is planning additional public meetings. The Task Force encourages residents to fill out this survey to provide feedback on this issue. Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, 4/29 
and Wednesdays 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23 4/30
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 4/10 & 4/24, Saturdays 4/12 & 4/26
The Highland Park Food Pantry distribution will take place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue. Visit the Borough website for additional dates. For more information, contact Nicole Huff at 732-819-0052.

Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and winter programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.

Fireworks in the Park, Thursday, 7/3
Highland Park will hold fireworks to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 3rd this year.

Parkstock Music Festival, Thursdays: 7/17, 7/31, 8/14 and 8/28
Outdoor concert series on Thursday nights at Donaldson Park, Grove 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Select food vendors will be on site.
