Heavy Rain & Localized Strong Storms Update
The following is an update from the Cranford Office of Emergency Management (OEM) as of 03/31/25 @ 3:30 PM:
The Township of Cranford and Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the heavy rain and localized strong storm system which is projected to impact our region tonight March 31st, 2025.
Here is the latest forecast for Cranford from the NWS:
Tonight:
The initial activity is expected to be rather isolated and mostly out to our west late this afternoon, but if one or two systems do enter our area, it could be locally strong. Otherwise, the main batch of showers/storms likely moves in after 7 PM or 8 PM, with an isolated small hail and gusty wind risk. Additionally, areas of heavy rain are likely. While there may be isolated to scattered instances of typical poor drainage flooding, rainfall amounts would need to exceed 2.00" for anything more widespread, or for there to be substantial impacts to streams & creeks. This is conducive to localized flash flooding of roadways.
Hazards: Localized Street Flooding.
What Residents Should Do: Help facilitate stormwater runoff by clearing your street's storm drains nearest residences.
