* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union and southeast New York, including the following counties, Bronx, New York (Manhattan), Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 1130 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 820 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and embedded thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Rainfall rates were generally 0.5 to 0.75 inches per hour with the heaviest activity moving in from the southwest. - Much of the area should see rainfall total amounts of 1 to locally 2 inches. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newark, Yonkers, Paterson, Elizabeth, Passaic, Wayne, Plainfield, Bloomfield, Hackensack, Linden, New City, Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ossining, Ridgewood, Peekskill, Summit, Lyndhurst and Millburn. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
