Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with Friday’s shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with Friday’s shooting incident following an investigation.
On March 28, at approximately 8:09 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of North Walnut and Kennebec Streets, in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 27-year-old female gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Jessica Gledhill of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of her investigation, Detective Gledhill identified 23-year-old Jaheim Barkley as a suspect, and obtained warrants for his arrest. On April 1, police executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of North French Street, and took Barkley into custody without incident, and recovered a .40 caliber handgun.
Barkley has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Criminal Mischief Over $1,000
