City of Jonesboro Murder Suspect John Seay was taken into custody early this morning. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN

On 03/26/2025, the City of Jonesboro Police Department responded to the Texaco Service Station located on North Main Street, in reference to a person shot.
Upon arrival, officers observed the victim in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
During the investigation, detectives learned John Seay shot the victim twice in the chest, with a shotgun, during a verbal argument, then fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.
Investigators with the Jonesboro Police Department obtained arrest warrants for John Seay for:
Murder with Malice
Possession of Firearm by convicted Felon
Aggravated Assault With Intent to Rape/Murder/Rob
Hijacking A Motor Vehicle
Armed Robbery
Tampering with Evidence
Theft by Taking
Possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies
Discharge of firearm on property of another
Driving while license suspended or revoked
Cruelty to animals
Upon receipt of these warrants, SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN placed John Seay on his Top Ten Most Wanted List and activated “The Elite Fugitive Unit” to locate and apprehend John Seay.
Within 15 hours, Fugitive Investigators located John Seay hiding out in a warehouse located in Fayette County on N 85th Pkwy.
The business was quickly surrounded, and a plan was put into place with the collaborative efforts of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff's Office, and The City of Jonesboro Police Department.
Sheriff Babb (Fayette), Sheriff Allen (Clayton) and Chief Cato (Jonesboro) all responded to the scene and both SWAT Teams were activated and, after a brief standoff, John Seay was taken into custody by Elite Fayette County SWAT Team, after suffering minor injuries as a result of him falling through the ceiling of the establishment while trying to evade capture.
John Seay was taken to the local hospital for treatment. Upon release, John Seay will be transported to the Clayton County Jail, where he will await his day in court.
