On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 11:56 a.m., Petaluma Police Dispatch received numerous calls regarding a driver doing donuts and burnouts in the area of B Street and Pierce St.  The vehicle was described as a silver Infiniti G35.
 
While officers were responding to the area, numerous additional reporting parties called regarding reckless driving by the same vehicle as it traveled away the original location.
 
One witness called the police department after observing the vehicle park on McNear Ave and the driver entered a nearby residence. 
 
Officers arrived on McNear Ave and located the vehicle parked and unoccupied.  James Erickson was contacted at the residence by officers and ultimately identified by a witness as the driver of the vehicle during the incident. 
 
Erickson’s vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days pursuant to CVC 23109.2.  Erickson was transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked on the listed charge. Erickson was arrested earlier in 2025 for the same offense.
 
The Petaluma Police Department routinely responds to traffic complaints and utilizes resources accordingly.  We appreciate the community members who assisted in reporting the incident while it was occurring and additionally the assistance in locating the vehicle and driver.
