DOT&PF Wolfe Point Slope Stability Improvements
Traffic Advisory:
Wednesday April 2 – Single Lane Traffic will be in effect through Wolfe Point 8:30 am – 5 pm. Pilot car operations will guide vehicles through the work zone.
At 6pm both NB and SB Lanes will be closed as we remove a large boulder from the Wolfe Point slope. Expect extended delays. Road will be back open to 2-way traffic as soon as possible.
Safety Reminder
• Speed limit is 20 mph
• Drive for conditions – this is a gravel detour
• No pedestrian or bicycle traffic access through the bypass during this time
Blasting Notice:
Thursday April 3 between 9am-6pm there will be a blasting event at Wolfe Point – 4418 Tongass Avenue between MP 3.0 & 3.2. Single Lane Traffic will be in effect through Wolfe Point 8:30 am – 6 pm. Pilot car operations will guide vehicles through the work zone.
At the time of the blast, Flaggers will be stationed at the road closure point to ensure no unauthorized entry.
The following blast signals will be sounded on an air horn:
• Blast warning signal- A series of 5 (five) long signals, 5 minutes prior to blasting.
• Blasting imminent: A series of short signals 1 (one) minute prior to blast.
• All clear signal: One (1) long signal following the inspection of the blast area.
