OPD Makes Arrests Within Hours of Armed Robbery and Shooting
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested a juvenile in connection with the shooting and armed robbery that occurred in the 1900 block of Cortereal Avenue on April 2, 2025. Around 6:00 p.m., OPD officers arrested the male juvenile Oakland resident. During a follow-up search, warrant officers recovered multiple firearms.

Background:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred on April 2, 2025, in the 1900 block of Cortereal Avenue, just before 9:15 AM. Officers responded to the area to investigate reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a victim who sustained a gunshot wound(s). Paramedic personnel responded to the scene to assist and transported the victim to an area hospital where they were listed in critical but stable condition.
During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that the victim was approached by an armed individual who demanded the victim’s belongings. During the incident, the armed individual discharged their firearm, striking the victim. The armed individual fled the area on foot after the incident.
