Five arrested in connection with downtown fight
Five men have been arrested in connection with a fight that resulted in serious injuries in downtown Gilroy earlier this week.
Around midnight on Monday, March 31, 2025, Gilroy Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a fight in the area of Monterey and Sixth streets. Upon arrival, officers found three adult male victims who had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a group of suspects. Patrol officers were able to quickly identify, locate and arrest five suspects who were trying to leave the downtown area.
Investigators from the Gilroy Police Anti-Crime Team assumed the investigation and they determined that the victims were assaulted and robbed by the suspects who are all believed to be associates of a local criminal street gang. The suspects repeatedly hit and kicked the victims before stealing their jewelry and cash. The stolen property was in the suspects’ possession and returned to the victims.
The five suspects – all Gilroy residents – were identified as 19-year-old Mathew Garcia Flores, 29-year-old Michael Thomas Haro, 19-year-old Josiah Xavier Lujan, 20-year-old Adrian Anthony Navarrette, and 19-year-old Jose Angel Santos III.
All five suspects are currently being held at the Santa Clara County Jail.
