Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying a male business burglary suspect in connection with an incident that occurred on Friday, March 28, 2025.
At approximately 5:09 p.m., at Bruen Street and Hamilton Street, a male exited a silver Ford Taurus with a taxi logo on the driver’s side front door. From there, the male walked to a business located at McWhorter Street near Lafayette Street. The male used a key to enter the establishment. He went to an office, opened a black mailbox that contained envelopes for the employees, took the envelopes, and left the establishment heading southbound on McWhorter Street. He was picked up by the same taxi, which fled eastbound on Lafayette Street. The cash in the envelopes totaled $10,800.00.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as having a light complexion, approximately 6-ft. tall, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with black lettering, black Nike sweatpants, and a navy-blue hat with gold lettering. He also had a black glove on his right hand and wore a black face mask that covered the lower half of his face. Detectives have also determined that the taxi was bearing fictitious plates and a fictitious business logo.
