* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Portions of central, south central, and west central Indiana, including the following counties, in central Indiana, Bartholomew, Decatur, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, Rush and Shelby. In south central Indiana, Brown and Monroe. In west central Indiana, Clay, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion and Vigo.

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Local media have reported water rescues.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 840 PM EDT, gauge reports indicated slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 2 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
