Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Suspect and Hit-and-Run Vehicle
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. requests the public’s help locating the suspect and the vehicle pictured below, which was used in a hit-and-run incident on April 4, 2025.
At approximately 3 a.m., a Black male struck a male victim with a silver Ford Taurus (New Jersey registration L70RGX) that he drove onto the curb of Grove Street, between Grain Street and Central Avenue. Before fleeing eastbound on Central Avenue, the suspect put the car in reverse and struck the victim a second time.
Surveillance video also captured the vehicle headed eastbound on West Market Street. An off-duty police officer observed the incident and rendered aid to the victim, who was treated for injuries at University Hospital.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity and locating the vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
