Deputies Respond to Gunfire Heard and Arrest a Man in Possession of an Assault Weapon
DATE/TIME: April 7, 2025 / 1:04 a.m.
INCIDENT: Willful Discharge of a Firearm, Illegal Possession of an Assault Weapon, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, Possession of a Short Barrel Riffle
LOCATION: Summit Valley Road / Las Flores Road, Hesperia
SUSPECT(S): Aglael Munoz Navarro, 22-years-old
SUMMARY: On April 7, 2025, at approximately 1:04 a.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to the area of Summit Valley Road and Las Flores Road in the city of Hesperia, reference reports of shots heard. While on an area check, Deputy Hawkins heard continuous gunfire nearby and located a large crowd of people. Deputies located numerous fired bullet cartridges near the suspect’s vehicle.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and a 7.62 extended magazine was located in the front seat. Deputies located a short barrel automatic rifle along with 7.62 ammunition in the bushes nearby. The suspect, identified as Aglael Munoz Navarro, 22-years-old, was taken into custody.
Munoz Navarro was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC246.3(a)- Willful Discharge of a Firearm, PC30605(a)- Illegal Possession of an Assault Weapon, PC32320(a)- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine and PC33215- Possession of a Short Barrel Riffle.
