Convicted Felon Wanted for Assault with a Firearm Located and Arrested in San Diego County

LOCATION: Taylor Avenue & Locust Avenue, Bloomington
VICTIM: Adult Male
SUSPECT: Carlos Nunez, a 39-year-old male resident of Chula Vista
SUMMARY: On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at about 10:58 A.M., Fontana Station deputies responded to an assault with a firearm which occurred near the intersection of Taylor Avenue & Locust Avenue, unincorporated Bloomington. The victim reported Carlos Nunez, a 39-year-old male resident of Chula Vista, pointed a firearm at him during an argument and fled in a vehicle. Nunez was found to be a convicted felon who was currently on probation for possessing a firearm in San Diego County. Deputies obtained a warrant for Nunez’s arrest.
Later the same day, around 6:00 P.M., officers from the Chula Vista Police Department located Nunez and the vehicle used in the crime. Nunez was uncooperative with law enforcement but was eventually arrested. During a subsequent search, a firearm matching the description of that used in the above assault was located. Nunez was arrested and booked into San Diego County Jail for the arrest warrant and will later be returned to San Bernardino County.
