Sex Offender Charged with Failure to Register
Deputy Ryan Washburn with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 33-year-old Corey Nathan Hall of Marion with felony Failure to Register. He was given a secured bond of $50,000.
On April 2, Deputy Washburn responded to a call about a suspicious male in the Marion area who was sleeping on the driveway of a vacant lot in a residential neighborhood. Upon arrival to the lot, Deputy Washburn spoke with Hall who stated the property belonged to a family member. It was discovered that he was a registered sex offender out of Rutherford County but had failed to register in McDowell. Hall was informed that he was in violation of his sex offender registration and was directed to Rutherford County to change his address and register in McDowell.
The following day, additional calls from the neighborhood were made to the Sheriff’s Office in reference to Hall being back on the property.
Captain Paul Alkire responded to the vacant lot to speak with Hall about registering as a sex offender. Hall informed Capt. Alkire that he had not registered although he was told to do so.
Hall was arrested and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.
