Further Investigation from February Incident Leads to Additional Charges for Charles
A domestic violence incident from February 21that was released to the public by the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, has brought additional charges to a Marion man.
Detective Aaron Vallini with MCSO charged 54-year-old Lee Emmett Charles with felony First Degree Kidnapping and felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault. He was denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release from previous charges that stemmed from the February incident.
On February 21, deputies responded to a call about a possible domestic violence incident that was taking place inside a moving vehicle. The caller stated a red truck was traveling down a road in the Nebo community at a high rate of speed while a female occupant was waving for help and trying to jump out.
Deputies located the truck, which had been abandoned in the woods. Upon approach of the vehicle, a male and female walked out of the woods to identify themselves as 46-year-old April Mechelle Loftis of Hendersonville and Lee Emmett Charles, 54, of Marion.
Charges were filed against both individuals due to drug possession and a misdemeanor Assault on a Female charge was brought against Charles.
On March 20, Det. Vallini further spoke with the victim (Loftis) who revealed that additional offenses had occurred including physical assault and kidnapping. The additional charges were filed shortly after.
