Ventura County Sheriff’s Technical Communications Specialist Maribel Cobian has been selected as the 2025 Public Safety Dispatcher of the Year. This award is presented to an outstanding dispatcher for their exemplary work and contributions to public safety and the residents of Ventura County. Maribel was first hired in 2011 as a cadet and quickly promoted to dispatcher. She was chosen to be our recipient by her supervisors due to her incredible hard work. She has an innate ability to gather information from callers who are in need of assistance and provide all of them with empathy and sympathy. Sheriff dispatchers answer, assess, and refer 9-1-1 calls, and business calls that come into the Sheriff’s Office. They are responsible for dispatching and coordinating patrol response to calls for service and at times, responsible for up to 70 patrol deputies in the field. Dispatchers are classified as first responders, in California, to emergency incidents and are expected to remain calm, professional, and proficient at all times. Maribel’s co-workers and supervisors can attest that she promotes all of the above attributes while working her shift. She is a very reliable employee and it’s a pleasure having her in the Sheriff’s Communications Center. Congratulations to Maribel Cobian for being selected as the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s 2025 Dispatcher of the Year. |
