The Borough wide Tax revaluation process has begun, Inspectors are out - here is what to know...
By now you should have received a letter (attached) in the mail from Appraisal Systems (ASI) explaining the Tax Court ordered property revaluation process and that an Inspector from their company will be out to inspect your home in the coming weeks. There are also further details on what you should do and what to check for before letting anyone in your home. The inspections are 9-5 daily and every home in the Borough will be visited. The Inspectors Credentials are the ASI Website and on file with the Police Desk 201-652-1700 and Borough Clerk 201-652-4400 ext 223 too.
There are other options explained for rescheduling appointments and video conferencing that may also be arranged. For all the details please read the attached letter or go to ASI's website. ASI will be the best source for the facts and are best equipped to answer all your questions ( Not social media). Typically during a revaluation about 1/3 of homes go down, 1/3 stay the same and 1/3 of the homes go up. Regardless of your property’s valuation, the Borough will still need basically the same amount of money to run the town so the Tax Point value will come down proportionally. So if your property doubles in value your taxes will not.
