Summary:

Transhumance is the moving of livestock from one location to another.  On this day, sheep will be herded from the Petaluma Fairgrounds to Steamer Landing Park.  The herding will begin at approximately 10:00 AM.  The sheep will be herded down East D Street to Steamer Landing (Copeland and D Street).  This event will cause temporary road closures along the route to safely escort the sheep to their destination to an awaiting festival at Steamer Landing Park.   Detours and closures are expected to be brief.

Road closures will include the following:
Payran Street from Fairgrounds Drive to East D Street.
East D Street and Vallejo Street
East D Street and Edith Street
East D Street and Wilson Street
East D Street and Erwin Street
East D Street and Lakeville Street
East D Street and Hopper Street
East D Street and Copeland Street

Spectators are welcome to attend this event.  Spectators will be asked to stay on adjoining sidewalks along the route as to leave a clear path for the herding sheep to ensure they reach the park safely.

The Police Department will be working this event to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues.  If possible, please avoid vehicular traffic in this area during this time.  The Petaluma Police Department appreciates the public’s patience and understanding, and requests those who cannot avoid the area to allow plenty of time for travel.
