The suspicious device has been rendered safe by the LASD Arson/Explosives Detail, and there is no threat to public safety. All roadways have been reopened and normal traffic has resumed.
Deputies from the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station are currently on scene following the discovery of a suspicious device during a traffic stop near 16900 block of Praire Avenue, in the city of Lawndale.
As a precaution, the area has been secured, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives Detail is en route to assess and safely handle the device.
Nearby traffic is being redirected, and a safety perimeter has been established. We are asking members of the public to avoid the area until further notice.
