Crime Bulletin Covering the Week of March 31-April 6, 2025

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Tuesday, 04-01-25, at approximately 7:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 7-Eleven on Serravista Avenue on a report of a shoplift. The cashier stated that an unknown suspect entered the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. Upon realizing that the item was not stocked, the cashier went to retrieve it from the office. The cashier placed the wholesale package of cigarettes on the counter. As the cashier opened the package, the suspect forcefully grabbed it from the cashier’s hands and fled the scene. The cashier described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a blue hat, a neon construction vest, and black pants. This investigation is ongoing.

On Thursday, 04-03-25, at approximately 9:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Serramonte Center on a report of a carjacking in front of Dave & Buster’s. The victim stated that the suspect opened the front passenger door, sat in the passenger seat, and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. Fearing for his safety, the victim exited the vehicle, and the suspect climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off in the victim’s Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was later recovered in Oakland. Through investigation, on 04-07-25, the suspect, a 23-year-old Pacifica resident, was arrested and booked into jail for carjacking.

On Friday, 04-04-25, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Mayfair Avenue on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that while he was walking, a group of five juveniles snatched his cell phone from his hand. Have you signed up to receive these alerts? This alert is a free digital communication system used by emergency management agencies and first responders to send emergency alerts, notifications, and updates to portable digital devices. In an emergency situation, an alert will be sent by San Mateo County authorized personnel, and you will receive messages on your cell phone or mobile device. Most carriers activate the service automatically. To receive emergency alerts, sign up by visiting www.smcalert.info.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
