Newark Police Advise Drivers To Use Safety When Dropping Children Off at School
The Newark Police Division advises drivers dropping children off to school to follow the provided safety tips.
DO:
- Pull over to the curb to allow children to exit your vehicle safely.
- Ensure your child has all of his/her belongings so they don’t abruptly return to the street where others cars are driving.
- Wait until children are safely on the sidewalk before you pull off.
- Regularly practice pedestrian safety guidelines with your children.

DON’T:
- Do not allow children to exit your vehicle in the middle of a roadway even if it appears clear.
- Do not allow children to walk between parked cars.
- Do not allow children to use electronic devices such as earbuds or cell phones while exiting your vehicle or crossing the street.
