Shots Fired Case Update:
Early this morning, a multi-agency response occurred at a home on Estado Way. Initial reports included gunshots that were fired in the home. The suspect in this incident was identified as Michael Bodrov, a 64-year-old Novato resident. The preliminary investigation revealed that Bodrov was under the influence of a controlled substance and had a firearm in his possession. He fired at least three rounds from the firearm, while inside the residence. Once Bodrov exited the residence, he was contacted by the perimeter units which included members of SWAT and Patrol. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Bodrov refused to drop an object in his hand. After multiple attempts to get Bodrov to cooperate, a Novato patrol officer discharged a non-lethal foam bullet at Bodrov and he surrendered. Less lethal impact devices are typically used as tools to gain compliance of an uncooperative individual during an incident.
Bodrov was subsequently transported to the hospital by the Novato Fire Protection District with non-life-threatening injuries. The Novato/San Rafael SWAT Team conducted a thorough search of the home and confirmed that no gunshot victims were inside. Novato Police Department Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) executed a search warrant at the residence, recovering evidence that several rounds had been fired inside. Firearms and ammunition were recovered from the home. After being medically cleared, Bodrov was booked into the Marin County Jail for Negligent Discharge of a Firearm.
