Arrest of Subject Annoying a Child Under 18 / Violation of Probation

On April 10th, 2025, at 9:47 AM, the Petaluma Police Department received a report of a suspicious circumstance regarding two female juveniles. The victims, 15 and 16 years old, reported while they were sitting in Walnut Park, an adult male approached them and asked if they wanted to have sex.  The female juveniles immediately left the area and called the Petaluma Police Department to report the incident.  PPD Officers arrived on scene and contacted the described subject in the area. 
 
The subject, Robert Hofmann (64-year-old Petaluma resident) was detained and positively identified by the victims.  A records check revealed Hofmann was on Sonoma County Probation. 
 
Hofmann was arrested and charged with annoying a child under the age of 18 years of age and violation of probation.  Hofman was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
