1257 PM AKDT Fri Apr 11 2025
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SATURDAY TO 1 PM AKDT SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of about 2 to 6
inches. North to northwest winds gusting as high as 50-60 mph.
Visibilities reduced to one half mile or less due to blowing snow.
* WHERE...Eastern Aleutians.
* WHEN...From 6 AM Saturday to 1 PM AKDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing snow could
significantly reduce visibility at times. Strong winds may cause
damage or blow items around.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Two storms moving across the Eastern
Aleutians will bring an extended period of snow and gusty winds.
Forecast uncertainty is greatest for Unalaska as it currently sits
at the edge of both storm tracks.
The first storm moves through on Saturday, with the worst
conditions expected west of Unalaska during the afternoon and
evening. Conditions could vary rapidly with this first storm
during periods of heavier snow showers.
The second storm follows quickly late Saturday night through
Sunday morning, primarily from Unalaska east. Snow will be
steadier, with conditions improving through the morning as
temperatures increase through the morning. This will reduce the
threat of blowing snow and heavy snow, though gusty winds will
continue through Sunday afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Slow down and use caution while traveling. Secure loose items that
may be blown around by strong winds.
