Major Methamphetamine Bust Leads to Federal Arrests
Amarillo, Texas – Earlier this week, the Amarillo Police Department’s Proactive Criminal Enforcement (PACE) Unit, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Task Force Officers (TFOs), and APD Patrol, conducted a joint surveillance operation that resulted in a significant narcotics seizure and multiple arrests.
PACE received information during a prior investigation indicating that a female suspect was distributing methamphetamine. Further intelligence revealed that the DEA already had an active investigation involving her supplier.
During surveillance at the suspect’s residence, officers observed a vehicle leave the location and travel to a nearby convenience store. At the store, officers witnessed the suspect and a passenger receive a bag from a female in a separate vehicle. Both vehicles were stopped shortly after the exchange.
During the traffic stop of the first vehicle, officers located approximately three pounds of methamphetamine hidden under the passenger seat. The second vehicle was also stopped, and the driver was arrested for traffic-related offenses. During an interview, the driver admitted to recently selling three pounds of methamphetamine to the original suspect and disclosed that there was additional money in her vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, law enforcement recovered a total of 13 pounds of methamphetamine, approximately $26,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia from the vehicles and the suspect’s apartment.
Two suspects were booked into the Randall County Jail on federal holds. A third suspect was booked into the Randall County Detention Center on traffic-related charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
The Amarillo Police Department would like to thank the DEA, FBI, Potter County Sheriff’s Office, and APD K-9 Unit for their assistance in this operation.
