The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from March 16th to March 22nd
March 16th
Grand Theft – 700 block of Elm St.
At 4:17 PM, a victim reports their property was taken from their unlocked garage sometime between 12/2024 through 03/2025.
Shoplifting / Possession of Narcotics / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - 11555 San Pablo Ave. (DD’s Discount):
At 7:04 PM, an officer was at the business for an unrelated matter when they were flagged down in regards to a theft that had just occurred. The officer located the suspect a block away and detained the suspect with the unpaid merchandise. The employee identified the suspect during an infield show-up and the suspect was placed under Citizen’s Arrest. During a search incident to arrest, officers found the suspect to be in possession of narcotics and a glass smoking pipe used for smoking narcotics. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
March 17th
Shoplift / Vandalism - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 6:07 PM, an officer reports the suspect consumed alcohol while inside the business and fled the business with the stolen merchandise. Prior to fleeing the scene, the suspect threw a rock and shattered a window to the buisness. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
March 18th
Robbery – 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s):
At 6:14 AM, the victim reports a suspect assaulted two employees and stole their property. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Theft – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
At 11:04 AM, an officer reported copper wires were cut and stolen.
Vandalism – 10890 San Pablo Ave. (El Cerrito City Hall):
At 5:55 PM, the suspect spray painted an area in front of City Hall. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
Robbery – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 7:56 PM, the suspect stole items from the business and assaulted an employee during the theft. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
March 19th
Shoplifting / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 10:45 AM, an officer reports that a suspect attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise but was stopped by employees. Officers located and accepted the Citizens Arrest of the suspect. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
Stolen Vehicle – 1000 block of Contra Costa Dr.
At 11:46 AM, the victim reported two of their vehicles were stolen from their driveway sometime last night.
Indecent Exposure – Ohlone Greenway / Portola Dr.
At 2:21 PM, two victims report that a suspect began inappropriately touching themselves while on the trail.
Robbery – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross):
At 8:24 PM, an officer reports the suspect entered the business and stole items. As the suspect fled the store, the suspect assaulted an employee. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
March 20th
Robbery – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza (Starbucks):
At 6:44 AM, an officer reports a suspect stole items and threatened to stab and shoot an employee. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate the suspect.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd.
At 10:06 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During an investigation, officers found the driver to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Petty Theft – 6300 block of Barrett Ave.
At 6:20 PM, the victim reports their license plate had been stolen from off their vehicle.
Residential Burglary – 5700 block of Lassen St.
At 6:51 PM, the victim reported their house had been broken into sometime earlier within the day.
Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 8:04 PM, a victim reports a suspect had used their credit cards without their permission.
Defrauding an Inn Keeper – 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s):
At 4:37 AM, four suspects ordered food and fled the business without paying.
Warrant Arrest – 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s):
At 4:49 AM, officers contacted an unwanted subject inside the business. During an investigation, a records check of the subject found the subject to have a felony warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
March 21st
Shoplift – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 10:48 AM, a suspect stole merchandise and fled prior to police arrival.
Unlicensed Driver / Drug Paraphernalia – Cutting Blvd. / San Pablo Ave.
At 4:53 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver was unlicensed and on probation. Officers conducted a probation search of the driver and found the driver to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 5:29 PM, an officer reports a theft in progress. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Possession of a Loaded Firearm - Liberty St. / Portola Dr.
At 7:30 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During an investigation, officers found the driver to be in possession of a loaded firearm. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
