Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Felon for Drug Possession and Additional Charges 
Proactive traffic stop leads to arrest of convicted felon for possession of 94 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a collapsible baton, and driving on a suspended license.
San Mateo, CA – On April 13, 2025, at 2:46 a.m., a San Mateo Police officer proactively stopped a vehicle driving in the area of N. Amphlett Blvd./E. Poplar Ave. for mechanical violations. At which time, he discovered the driver, identified as Leovardo Blancarte, was driving on a suspended license. A further search revealed Blancarte is a convicted felon, and ultimately, a search of both Blancarte and his vehicle led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, a collapsible baton, and approximately 94 grams of suspected methamphetamine packaged for sale.
Due to health issues, Blancarte was unable to be booked into the San Mateo County Jail and was instead issued a citation for multiple charges.

CHARGES:
11378 HS – Possession of a controlled substance for sale, 22210 PC – Possession of weighted weapons (baton), 11364(a) HS – Possession drug paraphernalia, and 14601.1(a) VC – Drive on a suspended license.
