Fire Weather Watch until 08:00PM Thursday

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT THURSDAY BETWEEN 10AM AND 8PM FOR MOST OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Strengthening southwest winds combined with single-digit relative humidity will create critical fire weather conditions across much of the region Thursday, with extreme conditions possible in the Northeast and Central Highlands where winds may gust as high as 60 mph. High temperatures will also with 10 to 15 degrees above average in most areas. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening.

* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), Upper Rio Grande and Lower Chama River Valley (Zone 121), Northeast Highlands and Plains (Zones 123 and 104), West Central Mountains (Zone 105), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), Central Highlands (Zone 125), East Central Plains (Zone 126), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109).

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 50 and 60 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 6 to 10 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHWEST PLATEAU ... NORTHEAST PLAINS ... WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS ... MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY ... WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE ...
