Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday April 7 - Sunday April 13, 2025 
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2025:
11:24 AM Officer Dale responded to a suspicious person reported near Newark Blvd & Mowry Ave. A 30-year-old male was arrested for violating the terms of his probation, tampering with vehicles and possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:09 PM Officer Stevenson arrested a 23-year-old male for violating a court order and carrying a concealed weapon. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:55 PM Officer Williams responded to the area of Stevenson Blvd & Balentine Dr for a report of an uncontrolled sidewalk fire. A 38-year-old male was cited for possession of narcotics.
TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2025:
4:23 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Cherry St & Dairy Ave.
7:13 AM Officers responded to a window smash vehicle burglary, and a vehicle theft that occurred on Mowry School Road. Several tools were reported taken from the vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later recovered on I-880, and the tools were located and returned to the owner.
9:03 AM CSO Lau investigated the theft of vehicle registration from a vehicle parked near Cherry St & Potrero Dr.
9:47 AM Officer C. Torres responded to a disturbance reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 50-year-old male was located and arrested for vandalism, and obstructing and delaying arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:16 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary near Seawind Way & Hickory St. The sunroof was shattered and the glovebox had been rummaged through.
4:00 PM CSO Lau investigated a mail theft reported near Cherry St & Stevenson Blvd. A check was taken and cashed by an unknown person.
8:50 PM Officer Williams initiated a traffic stop on Central Ave & Newark Blvd. A 24-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2025:
7:41 AM Officer Losier investigated a stolen vehicle reported on Balentine Dr.
7:59 AM Officer Berlanga responded to the area of Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave for a report of a person with a handgun. A 34-year-old male was arrested for shoplifting, grand theft, displaying a firearm in public, and multiple outstanding warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:30 AM Officer McCuin investigated the theft of a bicycle that occurred near Cedar Blvd & S Magazine Rd.
2:02 PM Vehicle Abatement Officer Heckman recovered a stolen vehicle near Plummer Ave & Arden St.
5:10 PM Officer Piquette investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Sycamore St & Clark Ave.
THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2025:
1:01 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration near George Ave & Mulberry St. A 21-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
6:36 AM Officer Losier investigated a commercial burglary reported near Thornton Ave & Magnolia St. No loss was reported.
12:28 PM CSO Lau responded to a catalytic converter theft that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave.
3:54 PM Officer Pacheco investigated a bicycle theft near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd.
8:24 PM CSO Mora responded to a vandalism incident reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave.
9:24 PM Officer Kim was dispatched to a locker burglary and vehicle theft near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
9:43 PM Officer Shaffer responded to an unwanted guest reported on Newpark Mall Rd. A 55-year-old male was arrested for trespassing, possession of narcotics, and being under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, APRIL 11, 2025:
2:19 PM Officer Piquette conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without license plates near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. It was determined that the license plates had been stolen without the owner’s knowledge.
11:29 PM Officers investigated a suspicious circumstance near Haley & Bettencourt Streets.
SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2025:
4:09 AM Officers responded to a vehicle in flames near Mayhews Landing Rd & Cherry St. A 27-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:10 AM Officer Diaz-Perez was dispatched to a report of multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. Loss of personal clothing items were reported.
4:36 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on Balentine Dr.
7:16 PM Officer C. Torres initiated a pedestrian stop near Cedar & Stevenson Boulevards. A 30-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:49 PM CSO Vuong investigated a license plate theft near Olive St & Thornton Ave.
SUNDAY, APRIL 13, 2025:
8:22 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a domestic disturbance near Thornton Ave & Olive St. A 43-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for battery.
11:36 AM Officer Dale contacted a 43-year-old male near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. He was arrested for violation of a court order and possession of narcotics, and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
