SUMMARY: On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at about 1:16 p.m., Fontana Station deputies responded to a man with a gun call in the 9400 block of Hemlock Avenue, unincorporated Fontana. The reporting party told Sheriff’s Dispatch someone was armed with a rifle and handgun, and a female was bleeding from the head. Shortly thereafter, a Fontana Unified School District Police Department (FUSDPD) officer, who was across the street at Sequoia Middle School, was flagged down by a civilian reporting the same. The officer immediately engaged the potentially armed suspect across the street and the suspect fled into a residence where he was eventually arrested.
During the initial response from both the FUSDPD and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Sequoia Middle School was placed on lockdown for student safety. The injured female was located, received medical attention, and was transported to an area hospital.
Through investigation, deputies determined there was a dispute between two males at the incident location. During the dispute, the female was struck in the head, resulting in non-life-threatening injury. The suspect, who was identified as David Morris, a 27-year-old male resident of Fontana, obtained a handgun and a rifle, pointed them at the male victim, and threatened to shoot him. Deputies obtained a search warrant and seized several firearms, including those used in the incident, from the scene. Morris was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center for Assault with a Firearm, Criminal Threats, Domestic Violence, and Possessing a Firearm Near School Grounds.
