...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 9 PM MDT THURSDAY FOR ALL OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND VERY LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Strengthening southwest winds combined with low humidity will create areas of critical fire weather conditions for portions of central and western NM through this evening. Southwest winds will increase even more on Thursday and combine with many hours of single-digit humidity to create extremely critical fire weather conditions across much of central and eastern NM, with critical fire weather conditions elsewhere. Critical fire weather conditions will likely redevelop on Friday across much of central and eastern NM as strong southwest winds persist. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the East Central Plains (Zone 126).
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 50 and 60 mph Thursday. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph on Friday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values 5 to 10 percent Thursday and 10 to 14 percent Friday.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
