April 21 - 27 is Work Zone Awareness Week. Work zones are an area where we should all slow down and pay attention. They can be dangerous for the workers and motorists! 

• 2025 is historic for the amount of road construction and maintenance. Drivers can expect anywhere from 800-1,000 work zones throughout the state every day.-Speed and distraction are the two leading causes of work zone crashes.
• In 2024, more than half of the work zone crashes involved an aggressive driver.
• In 2024, more than 350 work zone crashes involved a driver distracted by their phone.
• In 2024, 23 people were killed and another 90 were seriously injured in Missouri work zone crashes.

Everyone can do two things to immediately make our work zones safer:  Slow down and put down the phone.

While work zones can be inconvenient, this work is necessary to provide a transportation system in Missouri that makes each of our lives better. Thank you for your help in making our community safer for everyone!
