Battery Arrest Following Altercation with Food Cart Vendor in Simi Valley 
Simi Valley, CA – April 14, 2025 — On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from the Simi Valley Police Department responded to a report of a battery incident near the intersection of Torrance Street and Brandon Avenue.
Callers reported that a female food cart vendor had been pushed to the ground by a local resident. Upon officers’ arrival, both the vendor and the involved party were still on scene.
Through the course of their investigation, officers determined that Julie Christine Sanchez, a 56-year-old Simi Valley resident, confronted the vendor over concerns about the vendor operating without a permit and allegedly selling unsafe food. Sanchez blocked the vendor’s path, leading to a verbal altercation. During the dispute, Sanchez pushed the food cart into the vendor, causing her to fall and sustain minor injuries.The victim declined medical attention at the scene.
Sanchez was arrested for Battery (California Penal Code 242 PC) and issued a summons to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on May 14, 2025. The case has been forwarded to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for further review.
