Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on 04/19/2025 at approximately 1030 hours, his deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle crash in the area of M 51 and Crystal Springs St., Pokagon Township, Cass County Michigan.
 
 The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Thomas Hanson (41 years old from Niles, MI) was northbound on M 51 when he rear-ended another vehicle that was northbound as well on M 51. That vehicle was driven by Brian Bowditch (63 years old from Portage, MI). Hanson's and his passengers, Rayann Hanson (35 years old from Niles, MI) and 5 juveniles were transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Memorial Hospital and Niles Corwell Health for injuries sustained in the traffic crash.
 
 
Assisting agencies on scene were SMCAS Ambulance, Pokagon Tribal Police, Michigan State Police, and Pokagon Township Fire Department.
 
Juveniles were not wearing their seatbelts, or in proper child restraints.
 
 
The crash remains under investigation.
