Activity for April 17-20, 2025: Officers responded to 287 calls for service, made 10 arrests, and 46 traffic stops.

April 17, 2025:

  • Officer Brooker was dispatched to the 1500 block of East Ganson Street for a breaking and entering report. A suspect has been identified.
  • Officer Justice conducted a traffic stop at Everhard Street and East Morrell Street. The 31-year-old male driver was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants.
  • Officers assisted Blackman Township with locating felonious assault suspects in the 300 block of Van Buren Street. Two firearms were recovered; one had been reported stolen with JPD. An 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old male were arrested by Blackman Township Public Safety Officers for felonious assault.
April 18, 2025:
  • Officer Frazier responded to Morrell Street and Mechanic Street for a weapons complaint.
  • Officer Elston was dispatched to the 400 block of South Blackstone Street for a personal welfare check. A 34-year-old male was arrested on multiple outstanding felony warrants.
  • Officer Frazier responded to the 1300 block of South West Avenue for a personal welfare check. A 30-year-old female was arrested for 3rd degree child abuse.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East Michigan Avenue for a disorderly subject. A 64-year-old male received a citation for possessing narcotic equipment, and was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant.
  • Officer Simon responded to the 100 block of Shahan Drive for a personal welfare check.
  • Officers heard multiple shots fired in the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Several casings were located in the area.
  • Officer Tripp conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of North West Avenue. A 42-year-old female was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
  • Officer Tripp assisted MSP with a traffic stop near Union Street and Greenwood Avenue. One of the occupants exited the vehicle and tossed something over a fence. With the use of a thermal imaging camera, Sergeant Kruso located a firearm with a heat signature on the fence line. The 22-year-old male was arrested by MSP troopers.  
  • Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Barberry Drive for shots fired. A casing was located, and a firearm was recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
April 19, 2025:
  • Officer Elston responded to the 1300 block of South West Avenue for a personal welfare check on a subject in a vehicle. A 61-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
  • Officers were dispatched to North Blackstone Street and West Monroe Street for a personal welfare check. A 27-year-old male was transported to the hospital, and then lodged at JSO on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
  • Officer Goble made contact with subjects near Griswold Street and South Jackson Street. A 46-year-old male was arrested on multiple outstanding felony warrants. A 34-year-old male was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
  • Officer Mills conducted a traffic stop at East Michigan Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A 34-year-old male was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
  • Officer Tripp responded to a domestic dispute in in the 1300 block of Rhodes Street. Officers searched for the 24-year-old male suspect, but were unable to make contact with him.
  • Officer Farnsworth was dispatched to the 400 block of West Monroe Street for a breaking and entering report.
April 20, 2025:
  • Officer Elston conducted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle at East Morrell Street and Water Street, and the vehicle fled. Officer Elston terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in the 100 block of Amos Street.
  • Officers responded to the 700 block of West High Street for a weapons complaint.
  • Officer Frazier was dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 1900 block of Pringle Avenue. The 25-year-old male suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival, and has not been located.
  • Officers are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 900 block of Orchard Place.
