The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2025:
 
12:16 PM Officer Taylor responded to Newpark Mall to investigate a battery.
 
5:30 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a report of fraud on Balentine Dr.
 
11:12 PM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired plates near Cherry St & Central Ave. A 23-year-old male was arrested for driving with a suspended license and violating a court order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2025:
 
6:53 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft reported near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St.  
 
9:38 AM CSO Lau investigated several residential burglaries. The point of entry was determined to be open garage doors. Reported losses included a bicycle, and backpacks with electronics.
 
11:18 AM CSO Lau was dispatched to an attempted vehicle theft reported on Edgewater Dr. The vehicle’s ignition was tampered with, and the stereo was taken.
 
1:07 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a window smash vehicle burglary that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. Reported loss included tools that were left in the vehicle.
 
2:22 PM Officer Orozco initiated a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St. A 54-year-old male with outstanding warrants was contacted and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:35 PM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd. Reported loss included vehicle registration, personal accessories, and work materials.
 
11:23 PM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 50-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2025:
 
12:34 AM Officer Williams conducted a probation check near Carter Ave & Filbert St. A 42-year-old female was cited for possession of narcotics and possession of lost property.
 
5:12 AM Officer Williams responded to the area of Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd for the report of a suspicious person looking into vehicles. A 43-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics, evading arrest and violating probation terms.
 
1:56 PM CSO Lau investigated a license plate theft that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Newark Ave.
 
2:42 PM Officer S. Torres initiated a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave & Hickory St. A 40-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics, violating probation, and failing to comply with a court summons. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:24 PM Officers were dispatched to a disturbance reported near Central Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 36-year-old male was arrested for making criminal threats, resisting arrest, possession of narcotics, and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2025:
 
12:01 PM Officer Pacheco arrested a 64-year-old male for trespassing and public intoxication on Cedar Ct.
 
2:08 PM Officer Lara responded to a battery reported near Birch St and Central Ave.
 
FRIDAY, APRIL 18, 2025:
 
2:20 AM Officer Kim responded to a domestic disturbance reported near Cherry St & Cotton Ave. A 28-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:59 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash commercial burglaries that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave. Reported losses included cash register contents.
 
3:02 PM Officer Piquette was flagged down to investigate a package theft near Cherry St & Brush Rabbit Ave.
 
10:51 PM Officer Swadener investigated the theft of a scooter from a vehicle that occurred near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
11:11 PM Officer Swadener responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Cherry St & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 59-year-old and 31-year-old male were both arrested for possession of narcotics and were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2025:
 
12:36 AM Officer Shaffer recovered a stolen vehicle and license plate near Cedar Blvd & Port Sailwood Dr.
 
1:14 AM Officer Soto responded to an attempted residential break-in near Central Ave & Birch St. A 27-year-old female was arrested for public intoxication and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:32 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a license plate theft that occurred near Dairy Ave & Cherry St.
 
7:16 PM Officer Williams initiated a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave & Cherry St. A 31-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:49 PM CSO Vuong investigated a license plate theft that occurred near Olive St & Thornton Ave.
 
SUNDAY, APRIL 20, 2025:
 
12:31 AM Officer Soto responded to an attempted vehicle burglary near Cedar Blvd & Haley St. The sunroof was observed shattered.
 
1:16 AM Officer Soto conducted a traffic stop near Thronton Ave & Hickory St. An 18-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence of narcotics. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:11 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & CA-84. A 19-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
12:15 PM Officer Lomeli recovered a stolen vehicle from the area of Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 35-year-old female was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and an outstanding warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
