GAS LINE BREAK NEAR OVERLAND WALMART PROMPTS ROAD CLOSURE
UPDATE 2:45 PM:
Crews have made significant progress, and all roads impacted by the incident are now expected to reopen by 3:30 PM. Drivers are encouraged to continue using caution in the area as operations wrap up.
We are extremely thankful for our partners at the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and Intermountain Gas for their prompt arrival and dedicated work to quickly resolve the issue and restore the affected roadways. Their teamwork and rapid response played a crucial role in ensuring public safety and minimizing disruption.
Update – 11:25 AM: Westbound lanes on Overland Rd are now open.
Eastbound lanes remain closed as crews continue to work. Please continue to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.
MERIDIAN, ID – The Meridian Police Department is currently assisting with a gas line break that occurred near the Walmart located on Overland Road. As a result, Overland Road is closed between South Stoddard Road and South Meridian Road. Intermountain Gas is on scene and working to address the issue.
Due to the nature of the repair, the roadway will need to be dug up in order to access and fix the leak. At this time, there is no estimated time for when the roadway will reopen.
Out of an abundance of caution, some nearby businesses have evacuated while crews work to safely resolve the situation. We are asking the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. The safety of our community remains our top priority.
