Deputies with Central Station Conduct Sex Registrant Compliance Operation

DATE/TIME: April 5 through April 19, 2025

INCIDENT: PC 290 - Sex Registrant Compliance Sweep: Operation Spring Cleaning

LOCATION: Cities of Loma Linda, Grand Terrace and the Unincorporated County area of the City of San Bernardino

SUMMARY: Saturday, April 5 through Saturday, April 19, 2025, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Central Station, conducted a sex registrant (PC 290) compliance sweep in the cities of Loma Linda and Grand Terrace, and the unincorporated county area of the city of San Bernardino. This compliance sweep was conducted in conjunction with Operation Spring Cleaning. Operation Spring Cleaning was a regional internet crimes against children (ICAC) operation. The goal of Operation Spring Cleaning was to identify and arrest predators who use the internet to facilitate the sexual abuse of children, to rescue children from predators, and to ensure registered sex offenders were compliant with their registration requirements.

Per California Penal Code 290, individuals convicted of qualifying sex crimes are required to register as sex offenders. Convicted subjects are required to register upon release from custody with their local law enforcement agency within five days of their birthday annually, within five days of moving to a new residence, and other various requirements. Additionally, registrants who register as transient are required to register every 30 days. If violations were located, cases were submitted to the San Bernardino County Office of the District Attorney for filing.

During this compliance sweep, deputies attempted to contact 109 registrants in the cities of Loma Linda, Grand Terrace, and the unincorporated county area of the city of San Bernardino. Deputies found six registrants moved from their reported address and failed to re-register. One subject was also filing false information on his registrant forms. Arrest warrants were obtained for four of the subjects; while two were taken into custody without incident and booked at the  Central Detention Center.

Anyone with information related to out of compliance sexual offenders is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Central Station at (909) 387-3545.
