Forrest fire situational update: The fire is predominantly moving north at this time. JCPL cut the power along the parkway which is has caused the power outage in the majority of town. We have received numerous phone calls about Pheasant Run being under mandatory evacuation which is incorrect, Pheasant Run Barnegat is voluntary evacuation, Pheasant Run in Lacey Township is mandatory evacuation. Route 9 is now closed north of Route 532 to Lacey Road, avoid traveling on Route 9 if possible because there is heavy traffic in Barnegat. As the fire continues north, there is no immediate threat to Barnegat Township. However we ask you to be prepared in case of a change in direction. Barnegat Police Command Staff and OEM are still at the Incident Command Post.
