Forest Fire Situational Update 
Forrest fire situational update: -New Jersey state forest fire personnel and and local fire companies are on location actively suppressing the wildfire. You may see backfiring operations throughout the night. Evacuations will remain in place until forward progress and control is obtained throughout the night. -The two designated evacuation shelters are Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin and Manchester Township High School in Manchester both of which are accepting pets. -The Garden State Parkway is scheduled to remain closed until midnight, residents should plan for an alternate route to get to work in the morning in case the parkway closure is extended. The Parkway is open northbound from exit 74 and north. The Parkway is open southbound from 69 and south. - With the winds calming down during the evening hours, there will be an increased amount of smoke in the area. This increase in smoke will decrease visibility while driving, please use extra caution and drive at slower speeds when in smokey areas. -Route 9 is closed between from Route 532 north to Lakeside drive in Lacey Township. -At this time the status of the power grid in the area of the Oyster Creek nuclear plant is unknown, residents should prepare for the possibility of an extended power outage as there may be damaged power lines and transformers. Remember the power was shut off by JCPL to prevent additional fires as a result of arcing wires. -All residents affected by the area power outages are encouraged to visit the JCPL and Atlantic City electric website for additional information regarding power outages. We will keep you updated with any new information.
