Hesperia Man Arrested for Attempted Murder after Investigation Reveals He Shot a Man During an Argument

SUSPECT(S): Jonathan McDonald, 20-year-old, transient of Hesperia

SUMMARY:
On April 3, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies with the Hesperia Police Department responded to Live Oak Park located at 10325 Datura Avenue in Hesperia for an assault. When deputies arrived, it was learned the suspect and victim were involved in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim two times before fleeing the scene. The victim left the area and called law enforcement. The victim was transported to a trauma center for treatment of injuries.
The suspect was identified as Jonathan McDonald, and an arrest warrant was issued.
On April 22, 2025, at approximately 12:53 a.m., investigators with the Hesperia Police Department located McDonald in a transient encampment near the area of Escondido and Main Street in Hesperia.
McDonald was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 664/187- Attempted Murder.
